"Renaissance Kids" is The Arts Connection's ultimate offering for
preschool aged children! Only available at our Steveston locations in
Richmond, BC, this outstanding, award winning, specialized fine arts
preschool program is the ultimate fine arts experience for little ones.
In our licensed centres, our fine arts focused preschool curriculum is
offered in two formats---as preschool only (at our No.2 Rd) or as preschool combined with a daycare program (at our No. 2
Road location). Children enjoy a theme based curriculum based on Early
Childhood education principles enhanced by the Montessori and Reggio Emilia methods.
Each day this unique program is enhanced by a 45 minute specialized
class in music, dance or drama taught by guest teachers who specialize
in each of these fine arts disciplines. Children are taken into a large
professional studio where they enjoy the fundamentals of music through
the use of their voices and simple percussion instruments; the balance,
fine motor skills and coordination experienced through learning basic
dance steps; and the development of speech and language skills and use
of their creative imaginations through dramatic play.
Visual arts experiences are part of the daily program. Children have
the opportunity to explore a wide variety of mediums including drawing,
painting, mixed media, photography, clay and textile arts. Each child
explores art in their own unique way and participation enables the
teachers to gain valuable insight into a child's thoughts and feelings.
Visual arts help children to interpret the world around them. The
tactile sensations of many art materials stimulate sensory awareness
and fine motor skills.
Field trips or visits by other fine arts professionals are worked into
the curriculum planning. Twice a year, at winter break and again in
June, students prepare a presentation for family and friends where they
have the opportunity to share their experiences and new skills in a
performance/presentation setting.
Social, cognitive, physical and emotional goals are fostered in a
creative environment. Instructors allow the children to explore their
talents, dreams, and abilities within the full range of a finely tuned
preschool program. Our curriculum is multi-cultural and non-religious
and through a variety of materials, learning centres and activities,
creative play and social interaction as well as intellectual
development are nurtured and encouraged.
