Early Years Programs
2011-12 Registration for 6 Years & Under!
Does your little one bounce to songs on the radio or television? Or
perhaps he's been "expressing" himself with crayons on your living room
walls? At The Arts Connection we recognize the need and importance of
children growing and learning through creative expression from a very
early age.
Through good quality creative programming children develop
their fine and large motor skills, focus and concentration, rhythm and
pitch, language and communication skills and much, much more! Our
talented teachers love working with young children and are enthusiastic
about developing programming that is reflective of their needs and
creativity.
We recognize the needs of today's busy family, so we offer a wide
variety of programming from infancy up to age 6 that will suit the
needs of conscientious parents. Whether you're an at-home mom wanting
to spend some quality time with your child, a working parent with only
time on the weekends or even if you have a nanny or grandparent who
would like to spend time with your child in a structured activity, we
have classes that will suite almost every situation. Once your child
reaches the age of
2 - 1/2 years, we can also provide parents with a much deserved break
by introducing little ones to our popular Arts Combo programs, where
they learn to separate from their caregiver and venture into the world
of independence - perhaps in preparation for our popular Renaissance Kids Preschool or Junior Kindergarten Program!
Baby's First Music 2011-12
Baby's First Music tends to be so popular that its waitlist is often full all year! Pre-registration for this program begins in late spring, so watch the website for information!
The program allows parent and child to explore the world of music together. It's a wonderful opportunity to develop musical awareness and enjoyment while improving the auditory, visual, motor, language, and social skills of your little one. Parents of the youngest learn knee-bouncing songs, finger plays, lullabies, and ways to introduce tempo, beat, pitch, and dynamics to their infants and toddlers. Older children participate more independently of their parents and perform simple pieces on rhythm instruments.
We're pleased to offer a Combined Baby's First Music, which will allow parents of more than one child to enjoy the experience with all of their children at the same time. Please keep in mind that, like all of our programming, small class sizes are the norm so that the best experience can be had. Maximum class size is 12 students.
Children who are enrolled in any Arts Connection programming are entitled to priority registration for our popular Renaissance Kids Preschool or Junior Kindergarten. Notification of this will be sent to families participating in our programs well in advance of the date that registration applications are accepted.
All Baby's First Music classes take place on Wednesdays at our beautiful Minato Village in our new dance studio, located at #125-3900 Steveston Highway (at No. 1 Road).

Parent & Tot Arts Combo Class 2011-12
Through music, creative movement and art/crafts, your child will have the the opportunity to develop creativity and music appreciation, while you enjoy your special time together! Through color, texture, sound and movement, toddlers will develop hand and eye coordination, color and shape awareness, balance, strength and flexibility. This is also a good opportunity to introduce them to the basic skills required for socialization.
Saturdays, Sept 10- Jun 23 (35 Sessions)
9:30 - 10:15 am $350 per year or 10 payments of $35 per month 10:30 - 11:15 am $350 per year or 10 payments of $35 per month
Arts Combo (Music, Movement, Drama and Art) 2011-12
This is NOT a parent-participation program. After an initial orientation with Miss Arlene, parents will be expected to leave their child to participate on their own. This program is designed to be a preschool readiness program or to enhance an existing preschool program. Our popular fine arts combo programs are an opportunity for your child to explore and discover the world through music, dance, drama, and art, and learn important skills required for socialization. Please send your child to class with a nut-free snack and a drink.
Class takes place at Renaissance Kids location #1-12491 No. 2 Road. Saturdays, Sept 10 - Jun 23 (36 Sessions)
11:30am - 1:00pm $620 per year or 10 payments of $62 per month
First Steps in Arts and Learning (Preschool Preparatory Programs for 2 - 3 Year Olds)
First Steps in Arts & Learning is a creative preschool preparatory program for 2 to 3-year-olds. In this specialized program, your child will experience an introduction to simple phonics, take their first steps in bilingualism through introductory French, and explore their creative side through various components of fine arts, including visual arts, dance, imaginative play, and music. Circles and snack times are incorporated to help the children adjust to classroom routines that will be experienced when they move up into Preschool or Junior Kindergarten.
We will be offering a fall session which will require registration for two
days per week (your choice of days, Monday - Friday, 10:00am - 12:00pm).
Classes take place at the our Minato Village Music Divison (#160-3900 Steveston Hwy)
